Cryotherapy is an effective way to treat many soft tissue injuries to a horse’s legs, including contusions, bowed tendons, tendonitis, suspensory desmitis, and carpitis. It can be used to accelerate recovery of micro tears after workouts as well as to treat inflammation.
ACTIVE COMPRESSION VS ICE BOOTS
Squeeze and release action from cyclical compression pushes fluid through the lymphatic drainage system compared to ice boots that has decreased skin surface contact. This action allows oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to flow back to the injury site.
